| FHC-XX | How to Add and Edit Creditors | December 19, 2025 | 0.7 |
This article describes the steps to add a new creditor or to edit an existing creditor within the CRM. It is divided into two sections:
Adding a New Creditor
Creditors may be added to the CRM automatically when a user enters a debt for a contact (if the creditor for said debt does not already exist in the system).
Adding a Debt
To create a new debt for a contact, find the contact in the CRM's Contacts tab/module. Proceed to the Client Dashboard and click the Debts nested tab (i.e., subtab).
Now, click Edit Debts found at the top right of the page.
A Client Debts / Accounts page will be displayed on the left panel of the page (see example below). In the "Original Creditor" field, type in a new name for this creditor.
NOTE: If the creditor name you choose is already in the system, a warning will appear near this field.
Complete all required fields (marked by an asterisk) and click Save at the bottom of the panel when finished.
Editing an Existing Creditor
To edit an existing Creditor, be sure you are logged in to the CRM. Click on the Creditors Tab and select the creditor that you wish to edit by clicking on the ellipses (...) for that creditor (see the purple highlighted area below on the right).
NOTE: The Creditors Tab does not pull up unenrolled creditors and only enrolled creditors
If you select a creditor from the "Parent Creditors" tab, you may edit or view that particular parent creditor by clicking the ellipses at the end of the row, and then selecting Detail View or Edit.
In addition, the user can search for a particular creditor to modify by typing their name in the navigation bar's search text box (see red highlighted area below on the top left of the page).
If you select "Details View" the page will be displayed as shown below. Click the "Actions" dropdown menu (highlighted in red) and select "Edit" to make the desired changes. NOTE: If the creditor selected is labeled a "System Creditor", the "Edit" button may not be available to you.
The following "Edit Creditor" page appears.
IMPORTANT: If a Parent Creditor is assigned, then their Estimate Settlement Percentage is inherited. If left blank, then it will inherit the percentage on the enrollment plan.
Once you have made your edits and confirmed their accuracy, click the "Save" button at the bottom right of the popup (see image above).
To delete the creditor you are working on, click the "Delete" option in the dropdown bar (see image below where highlighted in red), to do so.
IMPORTANT: Clients should not try to delete creditors with debts associated with them. Contact support@setforth.com for more assistance.
