How to Configure and Apply Custom Debt Fee Percentages |
September 4, 2026 |
0.2 |
This article describes how to enable and apply custom fee percentages to individual client debts within the FORTH CRM. It was developed for CRM administrators configuring user permissions and settlement agents managing client debt structures in the FORTH CRM.
The article is organized into the following sections:
Overview
The Custom Debt Fee Percent feature gives your organization precise control over settlement fee calculations during negotiations. Overriding standard Earned Performance Fee (EPF) rates eliminates manual calculations and prevents costly math errors. Custom fee rates automatically calculate settlement fees dynamically or populate default rates based on debt types and enrollment plans.
Prerequisites
Administrator access to configure Role permissions in the FORTH CRM, or active View/Edit Debt Fee Percentage permission assigned to your user role. Once enabled, users can apply custom fee percentages directly on a client's debt page.
How to Access
Administrators must permit users before custom fee percentages can be edited.
- Log in to the FORTH CRM.
- Click the Admin tab.
- Select Roles in the navigation bar.
-
Scroll down to the Creditors section.
- Select the checkbox next to View/Edit Debt Fee Percentage.
- Click Save at the top of the page.
How it Works
- Click the Contacts tab and select a contact.
-
From the Client Dashboard, click the Debts nested tab.
- Select the specific debt you want to modify and click Edit Debt.
-
Locate the Debt Fee Percent field at the bottom left of the page.
-
Enter the desired percentage (between 0.00% and 100.00%).
Custom Value: If you enter a number (e.g., 15.00), the system will use this percentage to calculate the settlement fee, overriding the standard plan rate.
Zero Fee: If you enter 0.00, the system will set the settlement fee to $0.00.
Default Rate: If you leave the field blank (empty), the system will automatically revert to the standard Earned Performance Fee percentage from the enrollment plan.
- Click Save at the bottom left of the page to apply the rate to future settlement calculations.

-
View the applied rate under the Debt Fee Percent column on the main Debts tab.
- When values are entered into the debt fee percent field, the system should dynamically reference the Debt Fee Percentage value when settling a debt. This will override the standard EPF percentage set in the enrollment plan.
Troubleshooting / FAQ
Why does the system still calculate fees using the standard Earned Performance Fee (EPF) rate?
If the Debt Fee Percent field is left blank, the system automatically defaults to the EPF rate specified in the client's enrollment plan. Enter an explicit percentage value to override the plan rate.
Why is the Debt Fee Percent field missing or uneditable?
Your user role may lack the required permissions. Contact your system administrator to verify that the View/Edit Debt Fee Percentage checkbox is selected under Admin > Roles > Creditors.
