| FHC-XX | Custom Field Grouping and Enabling Field Grouping | June 17, 2026 | 0.1 |
This article was developed to describe custom field grouping and how to enable field groupings in the Forth CRM. This article is organized into the following topics:
Overview
Custom Field Groupings allow for the customization of the custom field layout on the client dashboard. Without this feature, custom fields will instead display under the “Additional Information” section of the Client Dashboard, in alphabetical order of field name.

How to Set Up:
This feature harnesses the same tools as Forth CRM’s Form Builder. First navigate from the Contacts Tab > Custom Fields > Form Builder.
From here, you can either create a new form from scratch to be used, or you can use an already established form, save it as new under a different name, and then convert the new duplicate into a field grouping layout.
Please Note: Do NOT perform the following actions on your only/default in-take form. If you want your form to be the basis of your layout, be sure you “Save As New” first as a “Client Dashboard Layout” cannot be used as an in-take form.
Once ready, to convert a form into a Client Dashboard Layout, check the “Enable Field Groupings” checkbox on the right side of the page in the “Client Dashboard Layout (not a form)” section.
Upon selecting the “Enable Field Groupings” checkbox, a window prompt will appear, asking you to confirm. Upon clicking the “Okay” button, all standard fields will be removed from the page, as only custom fields apply to this setting. (Please note, standard fields will only appear in their already established Client Snapshot section of the Client Dashboard)
Sharing Layouts
Layouts can be different depending on a user’s role and/or company. To specify this, make sure to select who this layout applies to by selecting the appropriate options on “Default for Role”.
Important: the “Shared With” section is only for Form Use, not Client Dashboard Layout.
With your new layout format shared, the client dashboard’s Additional Information section will now update for all applicable users in your system.
